Home Office Mastery

1. Home Office Layout and Style

Create a home office you never want to leave!

Perhaps you have worked from home for many years, or you’ve just discovered during COVID lockdowns, that you can be more productive and happier working from home and enjoy other benefits like saving time on commuting, avoiding peak hour traffic, saving money not buying that lunch you knew you shouldn’t have eaten and instead eat your healthy food at home, you can wear comfy pants, you don’t have to deal with the office drama or gossip queen, your pets hang around under your desk and when you feel stressed a furry pet cuddle always reduces your blood pressure and puts a smile on your face.

If working from home is going to be a longer term feature of improving your life, it’s worth taking some time and thought to create an office you love being in every working day – let’s face it the other benefit is that you can choose the décor and outlook to suit your personality and you’re not stuck with the grey melamine desk, felt partition walls, and fluorescent lighting which does nothing for your skin!  And when you want a change of scenery you can go and sit in your garden with your laptop.

Home Office Discovery & Planning

Before you can start designing, it’s time to sit down with a cup of coffee or tea, in a comfy chair with your slippers, a note pad and pen (or our Workbook), and consider some questions.

As a professional you know it’s always a good idea to start a project with some planning and when you just jump in that’s when it all goes to a hot mess sometime soon, and it ends up costing more than you planned.  So here are some questions to consider to be able to design your best office:

The next step is, based on your requirements you have now identified, decide where your home office should be located e.g. if you need privacy you will need a room with a door (even if it is a closet), if not, it can be in a corner of your living room.  If you have a lot of equipment, files, or books, then you will need a location that can accommodate some decent storage.

After you’ve decided where your office will be located, measure the area (yes you will need a tape measure).    Is it suitable to accommodate your desk or storage requirements?

Home Office Style

Lorem ipsum…

I approached creating my home office as a journey, I was creating a place that celebrates my achievements, and drives my next projects.  The journey (which took a few months) wasn’t without some frustrations, but I love the results. I can play the music I love, and release scents that promote focus and productivity.  The space is organised and inspires and uplifts me.
